My dad was a real big fan of his.

I have heard him talk about some of the things Petty did to make his car safer, the wins and the championships.

But the one thing that sticks out the most in my mind about Petty was how he always stayed after a race to sign his autograph for every fan that wanted it. Even if it meant he was there for a couple hours. He always made sure that the fans were taken care of. Because he was truly grateful to the fans for coming to support him.Tsfanpchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03073673379869953566noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5028700971998139859.post-68238568564476042662009-09-01T01:57:16.900-04:002009-09-01T01:57:16.900-04:00You my friend have not forgotten. His competitiveness, character, and charisma on and off the track have been THE reason I latched onto racing as a 9 year-old and have stuck with it some 35 years later. But Gene? Yes, you also are right. Man oh man what a rotten movie "43 - The Petty Story" was. :-) =toomuchcountryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09359556284713305865noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5028700971998139859.post-8092666333257262282009-09-01T00:02:03.228-04:002009-09-01T00:02:03.228-04:00Great history Rick. The ones who made NASCAR such an exciting sport.

I bought a DVD "The Petty Story" for a dollar a couple of years ago. Terrible writing and acting (Richard played himself) but parts of this blog are verified in that movie. Cool!Gene Haddockhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03677117602150714769noreply@blogger.com
